Ok, so I’m the stranger here. Yes it has been a while. The last post was this back in September. Which saw my unsuccessful attempts at making bread in an earnest attempt to be to make something from nothing. It was also something from the list and in so doing I have knocked another item off the list. Even if progress is a bit slow on the list.

Hello Strangers
Thursday, December 22nd, 2011Goodbye and thanks for the ride.
Sunday, August 15th, 2010It looks like my time being a resident in the Elms on Forster st is coming to an end. Due to “contractual difficulties” I need to find a new place to live. I have seen a few nice places and have collected a lot of numbers to ring around. The big search begins tomorrow.
It is two years since I moved into the elms. In the two years that apartment has been a good home to me. Moving out of home was one of the best things I ever did. Not that living at home was a bad thing, but since moving out i have met so many new people and made so many new friends, which I would not have made if I had stayed at home. It was past time I moved out of home at that stage anyway.
I’m hoping to get somewhere near the city centre still or only a 15 to 20 minute walk away. I am not quite ready to retire to the suburbs just yet. I’ll think about that when I reach 30.
So, it’s back to daft.ie I go and continue on my way to a new home.
London Again
Tuesday, May 25th, 2010Heading to London again this week. I have two weeks of work so in the morning I am heading to Dublin for the day. Will be doing a bit of relaxation and retail therapy before heading to Maynooth for the night where I will see a friend and have a few drinks.
Then it’s off to Dublin airport in the morning to catch my flight to London where I will be staying for three nights. Will be relaxing and discovering the place on Thursday, catching the Chelsea flower show on Friday with a friend and doing a bit of shopping and site seeing on Saturday before heading home on Sunday.
Just looking forward to the few days relaxation and rest from norm. I know I still have to post some photos from my previous visit to London back in January. I am looking for a suitable plug-in that will allow me to create galleries for people to come look at.
Will post again soon.
Mike
Another Wee Update
Friday, April 30th, 2010Again it has been a while since my last post. So I should really have a few things to say, and I do. It’s the Friday of the May bank holiday weekend so it means a few days off, a few days to relax and few days to also get things done. Took last night off work, just so that the weekend would be that bit longer. Went to the cinema to see Dear John, Dear God!! Don’t bother people!! Go for a pint, because that will be what you’ll need after it. This film has no plot, no real story line. They fall in love, he goes to war, they write letters and…well that’s it,they write letters. Although going in I made the mistake of asking for Iron Man 2 tickets but went in anyway. I think it was my subconscious telling me that I should go to Iron Man 2!!
Off to Dublin tomorrow for the night. Gonna head up early meet my cousin and shop for the day, find somewhere to stay and then head out for the night. If I don’t find somewhere to stay I’ll just get the bus back to Galway after the night club. I love going out in Dublin. I think it is due to the fact that it is somewhere different, also the scene is a lot different and much better than the one here in Galway.
Had an exam yesterday. Not good, but I was expecting that. It’s one of those subjects that is just almost impossible to understand. I’m not alone on this one. I have asked other classmates and they are all in the same boat. None of us like the subject or the teaching method use, rather than the lecturer. I have a project and a report due in on Tuesday morning. Almost done with it now, then it is just one more exam after that and I am free of college until September.
Well that is all the update that I have for the moment. I would like to post more frequently but never really get the chance to, maybe with the summer coming and college finished until September I may get to posting more often.
Mike.
A Wee Update
Saturday, February 27th, 2010It has been a while since I last posted. So I though that I’d give you all a bit of an update on where things are and what is happening. I’ll start with work. Work over the last month has been a bit of a roller-coaster. News of people being let off and more lay-offs to come makes me wonder if I’ll survive the chop. Been thinking about this a lot. What happens if I get it, what happens if I don’t get it. If I get the redundancy it means:
Cons;
1. No job. Duh!!
2. Living on benefits such as unemployment benefit, rent allowance and, well I think that is it.
3. Still have loans and bills to pay. How?
Pros;
1. Redundancy money
2. More free time.
3. Redundancy money will pay off loans, which sorts part of 3 in the cons list.
4. Possibility to return to college full-time and get a qualification while waiting out the “economic downturn”
Getting a redundancy is a mixed bag really. If I get it, what choice do I have but to accept it and get on with life and see what I can do. If I don’t get it, life goes on as normal and everyone’s, well most people are, happy.
Ok so moving on, college is all go. Working on projects and studying for exams as I go. College is an aspect of life that I like and don’t plan on giving up anytime soon. Once my current course is finished I plan on doing more. I really want to get deeper into programming languages and web development. I think that no matter what I am at in life or where I am, I’ll always be studying something. Knowledge is power after all.
Paddys week is coming up and we are meant to have the whole week off work, but I will be in on the Monday and Tuesday to help out on overhauling some of the machines while there is no production. I am looking forward to have the rest of the week off. Last year paddys day was a lot of fun, it was really sunny and warm, which is what we need at the moment after all of this cold weather of late.
It bonus time of year again and I am wondering what to get out of it, most of it is gone on the car, tax, insurance, service. However I do have some leftover and I have a few things in mind that I want to get. A new coat, new sunglasses and a few decent belts. So as you can see it’s nothing major.
I recently put an ad in the Galway Independent for PC repair as a way of making a few extra euros. Had a call for a job on Friday morning last but it was cancelled. So I am going to run the ad for a few more weeks to see how it goes. So if any of you or your friends are having PC trouble or need something done, who you gonna call? Mike Folan!! Iincase any of you don’t have my phone number and do need me, 0876953564.
Ok that is all for now, I think. Chat to you all again another time.
Mike
